Online resources for students and parents
Sallie Mae's websites and resources help students pinpoint their education goals and help students and families with financial strategies.
Sallie Mae can help families see all the options available today: They can learn how to balance costs between parent and student loans, calculate which schools are truly affordable, take entrance and exit counseling, and become credit-approved for PLUS loans.
SallieMaeEdTrust.com
At SallieMaeEdTrust.com, your prospective students can apply online for federal and private student loans, consolidate their student loans, and learn about the paying for college process.
Sallie Mae’s College Answer is a great resource for your potential students.
They can use our online tools—calculators, glossary, and analyzers—and searches—scholarships, applications, and degree programs—to discover how affordable and rewarding higher education can be.
Online Student Loan Counseling is a service that lets your school’s financial aid administrators refer your student borrowers to our site to receive federally mandated loan entrance and exit counseling. The interactive counseling session engages students and confirms their understanding of the loan information.
Multiple versions of the counseling service are available. Each version meets all federal regulatory requirements; one session is specifically designed for your graduate students.
Parent PLUS credit-approval services
Sallie Mae offers a variety of Parent PLUS credit-approval services for colleges and parents. These services are designed to streamline the PLUS application process and simplify the loan approval process.
- PLUS by Web: Sallie Mae’s PLUS services provide parents instant, online credit decisions and, depending on your school’s profile, access to the online Parent PLUS application that they can complete and electronically sign in just minutes. Parents can also easily check loan status online.
- PLUS by Phone: For Parent PLUS information, parents can call a toll-free number to speak with a PLUS services representative. Our representatives walk parents through your school's preferred PLUS process and answer their financial aid and loan questions. Depending on your school’s preference, PLUS by Phone can accommodate manual or electronic processing.
- PLUS Success: PLUS services representatives provide credit counseling to parents who are not initially approved for a Parent PLUS because of credit issues. Representatives counsel parents on how to resolve negative credit issues and, thus, become eligible for a Parent PLUS.
